Hope Street Autumn Craft Fairs
Three days of fun, activity and entertainment for all ages at the cultural heart of Liverpool!
Blackburne House & Liverpool Cathedral
16th, 17th & 18th September 2011
We’re only just back in the office after an exciting weekend of events non-stop in and around Hope Street. First we spent Friday 16th and Saturday 17th September at the Liverpool Anglican Cathedral where we had organised an arts & crafts fair complementing the cathedral’s own programme of events. We can’t even start to tell how wonderful and varied the offering was at the fair: prints, beads, quirky as well as simply beautiful jewellery, hand-made clocks and wooden art competed for well-deserved attention. And the food! Visitors and traders alike found it a challenge to walk past the delicious cupcakes and chocolate treats without buying any. It was the first time our team worked with the cathedral’s event management and fundraising team and it’s been a great experience, not least because the cathedral as an event space is simply marvellous.
Early on Sunday 18th September we joined the preparations for the Hope Street Feast – although we felt that we were well organised and received massive support from Blackburne House, our venue for the day. Our programme of events encompassed a huge and wonderful arts, crafts & vintage fair, a health & wellbeing hub and a children’s area indoors. The health & wellbeing hub boasted of a series of workshops for visitors to join in and the children’s area offered gingerbread decorating as well as an urban garden workshop which provided the kids with a mini garden to take home. In the car park, our very own Busker’s Corner provided all-day entertainment to visitors of the CAMRA and Vinea tents. We’d also organised a bungee trampoline and penalty shoot-out to keep the little ‘uns entertained in the glorious sunshine. The Hope Street Feast is an annual highlight in everyone’s food calendar; together with the Blackburne House staff we’re happy to have added to its overall experience.
